Exploring Mallacoota Through Music and Imagery
Hello, everyone! I’m excited to share the process behind creating my latest music video, "Spring in Winter's Jazz." This project was a delightful experiment that blended my love for capturing the beauty of Mallacoota with AI's creative capabilities, resulting in a unique jazz piece set against stunning 4K drone footage. Here's how it all came together.
The Inspiration
The journey began with my usual approach: capturing the breathtaking landscapes of Mallacoota through photography. The sunny August day felt more like October, with its warm, spring-like vibe inspiring me to create something new. While I typically compose country folk music, the essence of this day called for a different sound—smooth, swinging jazz.
Writing the Song with AI
I decided to try something different by using AI to help craft the lyrics. Using descriptions of the photos I took, I collaborated with AI to generate the initial text. It was fascinating to see how AI interpreted my words, shaping them into verses that captured the scene's essence. Once satisfied with the lyrics, I instructed the AI to perform the song.
Refining the Music
After the initial performance, I went back and revised the lyrics to ensure they resonated with the mood and flow of the jazz style. I then instructed AI to perform the song multiple times, gradually refining each version until it matched my vision. The flexibility AI offered in adjusting the performance helped me craft a piece that was both authentic and engaging.
Creating the Video
With over 13 minutes of stunning 4K drone footage showcasing Mallacoota's landscapes, I decided to feature four versions of the song in the video. This choice allowed me to highlight different aspects of the scenery while maintaining a continuous jazz theme that complemented the visuals.
Feedback and Reflections
