The local guide
Leave room for a wander.
Walk beside the inlet or head towards the coastal bush around Mallacoota.
Along the foreshore
A gentle look around the town foreshore is a good way to get your bearings. Stop by the water, watch the birds and follow the changing view across the inlet. Choose a stretch that suits your mobility and turn back whenever you like.
Towards the coast
The country around Betka and the Croajingolong coast rewards a slower pace. Tracks vary in length, surface and exposure. Ask locally and check the current park notices before choosing a walk rather than relying on an old photo or trip report.
Carry water, sun protection and a charged phone. Let someone know your plan for a longer outing and allow time to return in daylight. Reception can be patchy, and closures after fire or bad weather may last longer than expected.
