Autumn Sunrise

Rainbow Over Genoa Peak. First Light Over Gabo.

At 6:46am, autumn arrived over Mallacoota.

In the west, a full rainbow framed Genoa Peak.
In the east, the sun rose clean and gold over Gabo Lighthouse.

The air was warm, between 19 and 23 degrees. A light breeze moved across the inlet. Seabirds were already calling across the town as rooftops caught the first light.

It was one of those mornings where everything aligns.

I had the DJI Mavic 4 Pro in the air just after first light. The 180° and 360° panoramas captured the full arc of the rainbow, the sweep of the coastline, and the slow waking of Mallacoota below. No filters. Just autumn beginning.

This time, instead of only filming it, I wrote a song.

“Autumn Sunrise” is an original track inspired directly by this morning. The footage in the video is the exact sunrise that shaped the music.

If possible, watch it in 4K on a large screen. Full screen. The depth in the sky and the detail across the inlet make a difference.

The Images

Below are several stills and panoramas from the flight, including 180° and 360° views.

The rainbow framing Genoa Peak is rare. The balance of light between west and east even rarer. Autumn in East Gippsland shifts subtly. The heat lingers, but the light changes. The mornings sharpen. Colours deepen.

This was the first morning of that turn.

Mallacoota continues to surprise. Sometimes you just have to be up early enough.
